Here are excerpts from the diaries of one of the youngest and one of the oldest students at the Grammar School of Valjevo.

Maja is a 2nd form student and she is still excited about the new surroundings and new friends. The best occasion for getting to know each other better have always been birthday parties. You might be interested in her next birthday party after you read her account of the last one.

Tamara is in the final, 4th form. She is to graduate in June 2001 and is thinking about studying English at Belgrade University. You will be able to see for yourself that her life is dominated with two things - school and 18th birthday parties, which are a great feast in Yugoslavia.
