DUST COLLECTOR
by Maja Mitrovic

The work that I had always hated is cleaning of the house with dusters and vacuum cleaners. Maybe it wouldn't have put me to any inconvenience if I had had a better vacuum-cleaner than the current one which was very old. It was very hard for me to vacuum with it. I had to bend my backbone and after work was very tired. I always sneezed because of dust. Also, I had to lift all the books, little toys and many other things from the bookshelves and cupboards to clean every corner.
I had thought very often how to escape all those stupid things during cleaning.
Although I invented a machine for cleaning, and it was even accepted by a company, I wasn't happy at the end. I'll tell you why.
Once I had an idea and imagined a machine that solved all my problems with cleaning. It wasn't very big, it was round and it had wheels. It worked without electricity and all I had to do was to put it in the middle of the room, switch it on, and it would start to collect every grain of dust. I was very happy because I didn't have to vacuum any more – my machine worked instead of me.
A big company accepted to sell my invention and I got a percentage of the profit, which really was a big sum of money.
One day, as I was putting my machine in the middle of the room and was just about to switch it on, I heard the bell, so I went to the door to answer it, but it wasn't the bell. It was my alarm clock that was ringing and I had to get up for school. ''Oh, it's not possible, it was only a dream, one of many others'', I thought.
On the whole, this whole dream was much beyond reality, so I'm really upset that it cannot be realized.
