Come to My Place!
Come to Valjevo!

Mina Banovic, 14:
Valjevo is a small town. It's 100 km far from Belgrade. It's a small town on the river Kolubara. There are the rivers Jablanica and Obnica and there is Gradac, the cleanest river in Serbia. A lot of mountains surround Valjevo. Some of them are more popular than others.
The countryside is so beautiful that our town looks like a big oasis of beautiful nature.
In the town itself there are a lot of interesting squares. Some of them are: Vojvoda Mišić square, Desanka Maksimović square, Knjeginja Ljubica square and a lot of monuments.
Besides the squares you can feel at home in a lot of other cosy places. My favorite place is the monument of Stevan Filipović. It's on a little hill above the Bair block. When I see it I feel like I can grab the whole town with my hands. In that place you feel something beautiful which ties you to your town.

Uros Bircanin, 14:
Valjevo is a medium-sized town with 80,000 people. My favourite place is Knez Miloševa street. I feel very happy when I am in it. I like rollerblading there. I also meet my friends there. I don't like when I see Nenadović Tower in a very bad condition. It dates back from the 19th century and people of Valjevo should look after it.

Marina Mesarovic, 14:
Valjevo is my home town. My favourite place is Pecina park, the biggest park in Valjevo. I feel very nice when I am in it. I like that place because ther are lots of trees and lots of little children. They are very happy in that park. I like our Music school because there are a lot of good teachers. I like almost everything in my town, all its streets and shops, houses and people. I love my town.

Nikola Milicevic, 14:
Valjevo is a small city. It's a nice city but it isn't very big. There are lots of shops, squares and interesting places. My favourite place is the river Gradac. It is the cleanest river in Yugoslavia. I feel very happy when I see it. Every Sunday in summer, my friends and me go fishing there. I also like the festival called Tešnjar Evenings. There are a lot of concerts and other events. I love when I walk in the city centre. Some shops are very expensive and some streets are pretty dirty, but I still like Valjevo.

Marina Skoric, 14:
Valjevo is a medium-sized town with 80,000 inhabitants. I has a lot of beautiful buildings. One of them is the District Court House, one of the most beautiful buildings built in the 19th century. I like playing the piano in Music school, dancing in Abrašević ... It's a place where you do folk dances. My favourite place is Knez Miloševa street because I like the shops there. I sometimes feel nervous when I go to my school, but I feel happy when I am in it. I like Valjevo because it is never boring.

Miroslava Jeremic, 14:
Next week I am going to camp with my friend. I would be happy if you could come with us. We are going on foot, so we mustn't take a lot of things. We must take a map and compass for orientation. It is necessary. We don't need water because there are a lot of streams in the mountains around Valjevo. We are going to stay for a few days, so we must take a tent and some food. My friend is taking ropes in any case. We are coming home when we get bored, and then we could go to the river Gradac, the cleanest river in Serbia, or to the swimming pool in the village of Petnica.

Nikola Ivanovic, 15:
Valjevo is a town. It is not very big, it is not small, it is perfect. 68 800 people live there.
There are a lot of historic places in it; like the tower of Nenadovic and museums. There is also a cave. It has been discovered this year. The name of this cave is Deguric cave, and this is the discovery of the year. The place which attracts attention of young people is the disco ''Pingvin''. Old people like to walk through a park. In the suburbs of Valjevo ( near Grabovica ) is a forest. That is my favourite place. When I see it I feel happy. I really like walking through it. There are different kinds of animals.
In this beautiful town there is a foreign language school called LINGVA. I go to this school because that is the best school of all, as well as the children who go there. The only bad side of the town are its streets. They are dirty! But people who live in this town are very clever. The song (national) which describes people in Valjevo is called ''Valjevo's fraud''.
Every child likes its own town or city. I like Valjevo because I was born in it, I have grown in it, I met my friends in it, and some loves...so if you want to come here you are welcome!

Caslav Maksimovic, 17:
The Tower of Nenadovic by Uros Bircanin"Hello, folks, I'll be your guide on this sightseeing tour of Valjevo. The first place we'll visit is Tesnjar. It is a very old part of Valjevo. The first people who came to live here made a settlement in the place which today we call Tesnjar. Its houses are small and built in an old style. The main street is paved with stone. The second place we'll visit is the Tower of Nenadovic. It is built of stone and it has a couple of floors. The windows are very small. They were needed for watching and defending from the enemy. It is placed on a hill above the town. The third place we'll tour is the monastery of Celije. It is placed in the valley of the river Gradac and surrounded with a wonderful garden. It is a nunnery. The nuns live on farming and there is also a school for icon painting.
Ok, folks, let's visit all. Have a nice time."
